A 20th century Yanomami gathering basket decorated with charcoal line drawings on the exterior. This basket is tightly handwoven of natural fibers with several inner rings for stability, and palm leaf straps. Originally the straps placed over the forehead and allowed one to carry the basket on one’s back. The Yanomami are indigenous to the Amazonian regions of Brazil and Venezuela. Today, the basket is perfect for use as a waste paper basket in one’s office, powder room, or filled with magazine in your den.
