Stunning example of a gilt metal mounted Naples Capodimonte Porcelain Jewellery or Trinket Dresser Box Casket of seldom offered large size proportions. Last quarter of the Nineteenth Century. 

The dome shaped hinged cover with lavish decoration in relief, depicting a classical scene of multiple cherubs at play in a landscape carnival scene. The main body with a male and female nude scene within landscapes. 

Condition: Superb condition with nice rich colours, very light wear to gilding at high points. Box closes firmly. Base mark underglaze blue as shown.  

Height: (overall as shown) 4” (10cm). Width: (an impressive) 9.5” (24cm). Depth: 6” (15.25cm).  

Note: Capodimonte is an Italian distinctive style of porcelain that stands apart from all the other ceramic traditions of Southern Italy. This delicate ornate porcelain historically produced outside of Naples City is easily recognizable for its tiny pastel flowers, sprays of buds, baskets and elegant figurines.
